The humble beginnings of APEX Group. Mathias Hehmann began his company for regenerative energy in his garage.
APEX develops automated photovoltaic systems installed on traffic guidance systems, weather stations and vending machines. A floating solar system is designed to examine the potential of water surfaces.
The company begins to focus its research and development activities on hydrogen.
APEX initiates cooperation partnerships with renowned Research and Development institutions to actively promote the hydrogen enterprise.
APEX relocates its business to Rostock-Laage – a location sought for its proximity to major Motorways, Ports and Airports.
APEX and our Research and Development Partners, enthusiastically develop solutions for efficient chemical hydrogen storage.
APEX receives a special prize in the category „Future“ at the “Entrepreneur of the Year 2020” (Macher des Jahres 2020). Patron of the prize is Hamburg’s first mayor Peter Tschentscher.
Automotive supplier RHODIUS becomes the first tenant at APEX industrial park. RHODIUS aims to supply its’ future production site exclusively with CO2-neutral energy. The plant will be fully occupied by the end of 2021.
APEX initiates test operations at its public hydrogen fuel station for trucks and buses in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Development of a 350 bar operating pressure tank for hydrogen transport and a fuel tank for buses and trucks begins.
APEX initiates the test operation of Germany’s first hydrogen-based supply power plant. From this point on, the company is suppling itself and the entire industrial park and is CO2-neutral. Simultaneously, the Groundbreaking Ceremony (‘Spatenstich’) for the RHODIUS production hall took place.
Lloyd’s Register certifies the APEX hydrogen storage container (10 x 1,000 litres) with 60 bar operating pressure and a total hydrogen storage-capacity of 54 kg for broad industrial applications.
APEX receives the “German Renewables Award” in the category “Hydrogen Innovation of the Year” for the hydrogen hub on the company premises in Rostock-Laage by the Renewable Energies Hamburg Cluster (EEHH).
